Since its inception, Maharani Kasiswari College, under the able leadership of Dr. Sima Chakrabarti, is thoroughly positive about arranging Career counselling sessions (number of sessions are based on the student’s requirement) for the students to help them identify their career path and also ensure that they are focused in the right direction with regards to their career based on their caliber, scores, interest areas and long term forecasting. The college has a Career Development and Placement Counselling Committee, under the convenorship of Dr. Shyam Prasad Ram (Librarian) and Abu Farah Hoque, Assistant Professor in English, solely dedicated to guide, motivate and inspire the students to meet their desired career goals and opportunities to the best way possible. Career guidance sessions by the industrial experts are also provided by the College with the active support of the CDPC which include the senior manager and leaders from the corporate world. The topic covered by the industrial experts range from soft skills, 10 steps to be successful in the corporate world, campus to corporate- A transformational journey, Challenges of the corporate world.
There are scholarship competitions that are organized by various companies which are encouraged by placement cell, where the students get an opportunity to compete (presenting business plan) and win a cash award and also an internship with the company for a period of two months.
Fellowship talks are also provided by Fellowship organizations to bring about awareness about fellowship programs and interested students participate in the same.
Placement cell has been organising job description explanation sessions, resume writing, mock group discussion and mock interviews to enhance the confidence of the students to face the placement process of various companies. The college also has provided internship to students who aspire to become entrepreneurs and also an opportunity to meet various managers to get a first hand understanding about the corporate world/Start-up.
The Placement Counselling Committee of the college also supports the Companies in presenting their Pre-placement Talks and in conducting tests and interviews in the College Campus.
In the last five years more than hundreds of students got placed under the supervision of Career Development and Placement Counselling Committee. The list of recruiters include Amazon, Accenture, TCS, Wipro, Indigo and other reputed companies. The active support and guidance of the Career Development and Placement Counselling Committee would definitely continue in the upcoming years, as stated by the convenors.
To give job opportunity to the final year and Alumni students of the college as well as of different colleges in Kolkata, The Career Development and Placement Counselling Committee of the college organizes Job Fairs regularly. he Career Development and Placement Counselling Committee of the college has eyed to continue this placement related activities regularly.
