Programme & Course Outcome
SWOC
Strength
- Department has highly qualified faculties.
- All the teachers have publications.
- Teachers are approachable and always ready to render all possible assistance and guidance to students.
- Very energetic department with active participation in various college activities like cultural activities, National Service Scheme (NSS), Sports, celebration of Environment Day, Earth Day etc.
Weakness
- There is a little scope to organise a field visit to explore different aspects of environment.
- Lack of regular attendance in the classes.
Opportunities
- Environmental studies and Environmental Science connect students to the world and imparts knowledge about the current situation and future prospects of nature. It raises awareness of issues impacting the environment and also teaches students to explore all the problems related to the environment, and engage in wise ways of preserving it.
Challenges
- Environmental studies and Environmental Science are not a core subject. It is a compulsory subject as Common Value-Added Courses (CVAC) Course. Presently, Environmental Science is one of the Interdisciplinary Courses (IDC) opted by the students. Huge number of students are taught by the four faculty members. So, it is a great challenge to motivate every student during class hours.Â
Future Plans of the Department
- Environmental studies is a multidisciplinary academic field which systematically studies human interaction with the environment. Environmental studies is based on principles from the physical sciences, commerce/economics, the humanities, and social science to address complex contemporary environmental issues. So, it would be beneficial if it would be introduced as a core subject.
- Guiding students for their professional establishment.
